Ronda Rousey’s reign as the undefeated Bantamweight champion of the UFC has come to an end. At UFC 193, Holly Holm knocked out Rousey 59 seconds into the second round. Rousey was the heavy favorite in the fight that took place in Melbourne, Australia Saturday November 14th. In front of an audience of 56,000 + Holly Holm, who was a 14-1 underdog according to Las Vegas odds,  controlled the fight while in the stand up. With a stiff head kick, Holm knocked Rousey to the mat before finishing her with several strikes.

After the fight, Rousey spent the night in the hospital to have her split lip sewn back on and to be run through concussion protocols. Earlier today, Rousey posted this to her Instagram account to her fans:

UFC President Dana White, visually shocked, like the rest of us had this to say about the potential of a Rousey vs. Holm 2, “Obviously we don’t make fights the night of the fight, but the rematch makes a lot of sense,” he said. “The rematch is what people want to see. I mean, it changes a lot of things. The (Cris) Cyborg fight, some other stuff we were working on.“

Rousey, who before she was beaten, had already said that she would be taking some time off until about UFC 200 in July to work on some other projects. Recently Rousey was chosen to recreate the lead role of the film Roadhouse, previously made famous by Patrick Swayze. She has also been campaigning for the upcoming role of the Marvel superhero, Captain Marvel. We will see her again, and wish her all the luck.
